A family wants the police in Nakuru to produce a 21-year-old woman alleged to have last been seen in the company of a policeman in town.
According to the family, Naomi Wambui went missing from their home in Kahawa Wendani, Kiambu, on September 10.
She was later seen in the company of police officers at Kaputembwo Police Station in Nakuru on September 25, 2019.
Her father Ng’ang’a Mwangi said he reported the matter at Kahawa Sukari Police Station, Occurrence Book (OB) Number 13/10/9/2019.
The case was also reported at Kamukunji, Ruiru and Githurai Kimbo police stations via OB numbers 65/27/9/2019, 26/25/9/2019 and 17/10/9/2019 respectively.
“My daughter left home on the evening of September 10. I was told she boarded a matatu but I could not immediately establish where she was headed to,” said Ng’ang’a.
After her disappearance, police officers and family members commenced a search, during which a relative saw a post on Facebook indicating Wambui was at Kaputembwo Police Station.
“Anyone who knows this lady, she is at Kaptembwo Police Station. Lost and mentally disturbed,” read social media post which had Wambui’s picture seated at the station’s canteen.
The family went to Kaputembwo Police Station to confirm Wambui’s whereabouts but was informed that she had been transferred to Gilgil Police Station.
Before being transferred, she had been booked at the station, OB Number 14/25/9/2019.
The family proceeded to Gilgil Police Station, but there was no record to show that she was booked at the station.
On further inquiry, Mwangi was told by Officer Commanding Station Kaptembwa Jane Thuita that his daughter was taken to Gilgil matatu stage after she told police officer that she resides in Gilgil.
A distraught Ng’ang’a claimed an officer who allegedly took his daughter to matatu stage could not identify the vehicle she boarded, making it difficult to trace her.
He said Wambui’s picture was also pinned at the police station notice board.
“It beats logic for the police officers to have taken my daughter to a matatu stage knowing she was mentally disturbed,” said Ng’ang’a.

The family now wants the Directorate of Criminal Investigation to help speed up investigations on the matter.
When contacted, Nakuru Town West Police Commander Patrick Oluonyi said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
“I am aware about the matter, but shall give more details after receiving a clear report from investigating officer,” said the police boss.
