Shock as Standard five pupil commits suicide.

A standard five pupil has committed suicide by hanging himself using a strip of a mosquito net.

The body of Peter Awour was found by a member of the public dangling in a house under construction in Nyagacho estate on the outskirts of Kericho town.

"It is not immediately clear what time the deceased committed suicide since he had on Tuesday morning left for school only to be found dead at around 7 pm," said Kericho County Deputy Police Commander Patricia Nasio.

She added that they have launched investigations into the death of the orphan who was living with his relatives.

"We are awaiting postmortem results as we also conduct an investigation to determine whether the death is indeed a suicide incident or there was foul play," said Nasio.

 The body of the deceased was moved to Kericho County hospital mortuary.

In the suicide statistics released by the police for the last three months; 13 people in Kericho committed suicide in July.

"The figures nonetheless dropped to less than five in August and September," said Nasio.
