Police are in pursuit of a man suspected to have hacked his wife to death in Gilgil after a domestic quarrel.
The incident occurred yesterday at Jaika village in Eburru ward.
The police have launched a manhunt for the suspect said to have been recently released from prison after serving five years for attempting to rape a daughter.
Gilgil OCPD Emmanuel Opuru said they were yet to establish the motive of the killing.
“The woman had deep cuts all over her face and some fingers had been chopped using a sharp object. The body has been collected and taken to Gilgil Hospital mortuary,” said Mr Opuru.
Mary Akome, a neighbour, said they were attracted to the home by screams but before they could respond, the woman went silent.
She said they were shocked when the couple's children informed them about an hour later that their mother had been killed.
“The man, since he was released from prison, has been accusing the woman of infidelity when he was incarcerated and we suspect this is the motive of the murder,” she said.
Meanwhile, there was drama in Gilgil after a man was seized while attempting to sell bhang to undercover police.
Opuru said they had been tracking the peddler for long.
