A 68-year-old trader has been lynched in Mai Mahiu, Naivasha on allegations of sexually abusing over ten minors in the last two months.
The man who operated a shop in Mafuta Taa center 10kms from Mai Mahiu town was beaten after he was caught red-handed abusing one of the girls aged nine years.
Before he was killed, the suspect who lived alone confessed to abusing other minors attributing this to influence of the devil.
During the midday incident, the irate members of the public burnt the traders shop and personal effects before police moved in.
A witness James Gitahi said that the sexual abuses had been going on for a couple of months before the suspect was nabbed.
According to him, the suspect would use sweets and sodas to lure the minors before abusing them inside the shop.
“The man has been living in this area for over 15 years and no one suspected him until a mother searching for her daughter found the suspect and the minor in compromising situation,” he said.
Gitahi said that the mother raised alarm and the trader was dragged from the shop half-naked and seriously beaten before he confessed of his sins.
“Soon after over ten minors including two boys who had been sexually abused by the suspect emerged before area residents decided to lynch him,” he said.
Meanwhile, two passengers died and scores of others were injured following an accident involving a Nissan matatu and a lorry along the Mai Mahiu-Narok road.
One of the passengers died on the spot while the other died while undergoing treatment at Naivasha sub-county hospital following the accident near Kigecha center.
The accident occurred after the matatu that was travelling to Nairobi from Narok hit a lorry that had stalled by the side of the road.
A passenger in the matatu said that the driver could have fallen asleep during the early morning accident that adversely affected the flow of traffic.
“The lorry was parked on the side of the road and our driver rammed on its side killing one woman on the spot while scores of others injured,” he said.
