Deputy Governor mends fences with his boss after scathing Facebook post

Garissa Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane has turned around and reconciled with his boss Ali Korane, who he had accused of locking him out of key decisions in the county administration.

Mr Dagane had sensationally lashed out at his boss, accusing him of running the county in isolation in a statement he posted on his Facebook account three weeks ago.

Dagane welcomed the governor on Friday during a prayer meeting in Hulugho. The two had also earlier in the week presided over another meeting within Garissa town.

Speaking in Garissa town, where Korane was the chief guest, the deputy governor said having differences in any working place was common.

In his Facebook statement, Dagane had claimed lack of due considerations and consultations were among the key issues that needed to be addressed by the governor for an effective leadership

He further claimed there were still unfulfilled promises with "little or no tangible evidence to show" since they were elected.

“As a principal assistant and the most senior county official from the Samawadal community, I would not bargain with anybody for the rights of my people and the programmes that they are entitled to," he wrote on Facebook.

But in a turn of events, Dagane said he was ready to work with his boss to deliver on their promises, adding that squabbles between the two were now history.

Brokered deal

Sources said local leaders, including the senator, brokered a deal between the two.

The genesis of their differences was said to be the appointment of the deputy governor's opponents to Korane’s administration.

Governor Korane’s community (Abduwak) and Dagane’s clan (Samawadal) formed a pre-election coalition, which propelled them to victory defeating incumbent Nathif Jama.
