Four suspects linked to the murder of a disabled woman at Kalama in Machakos sub county last week appeared today in a Machakos court but did not take plea after the prosecution requested for more time to complete investigation.
Eunice Wambua, Danson Wambua, David Wambua and Sam Mwangangi appeared before senior resident magistrate, Ann Nyoike. Detectives have linked the four to the murder of Esther Wavinya, who was allegedly raped and one of her clutches inserted in her private parts.
Her lifeless body was found on her bed. Police suspect the motive of the killing is long standing dispute over family land between the deceased and her in-laws.
The court allowed the prosecution three more days to complete investigation after which they will be formally charged. The suspects were ordered to remain in police custody until May 24th when they will appear again in court.
On Monday morning, the association of disabled persons in Machakos held demos in the town's streets condemning the brutal murder of one of their own and demanded swift action by justice and law enforcement agencies.
