Three mechanics were on Tuesday afternoon killed after a truck tyre burst in their garage in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
Police said the men were repairing the tyre when it exploded and killed the three.
“Since the tyre had pressure in it exploded and killed those who were attending to it,” said Samuel Mukuusi, Athi River Sub-county police boss.
Mukuusi said that the three were repairing a trailer tyre when the tragedy occurred.
He added the tyre exploded due to excess pressure. Mukuusi said the incident occurred at Softing Garage.
Witnesses said one of the men had his head blown out and they all died at the scene.
Police said the lorry tyre was big and when it exploded it had a huge impact on the victims.
Bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to Shalom Mortuary.
Locals had earlier on mistaken the incident to a bomb.
The incident comes just a week after a similar one happened in Kware, Matungulu sub-county.
