Police on Saturday arrested several suspects in the stabbing to death of a Kirinyaga University student.
Central Regional Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga said the armed robbers waylaid the student near Thiba River Bridge as he headed to his hostel in Kutus town after evening studies.
They robbed him of his laptop and phone, which detectives used to track them down and arrest them, a day after the brutal murder of the student.
“Let criminals understand there is nowhere to hide since the digital technology will flush them from wherever they might be taking cover, “he said.
Also arrested are 11 second-year college mates of the slain student, who police believe were involved in massive destruction of property in Kutus town on Wednesday night.
The arrested students are set to be arraigned in court tomorrow to face charges of malicious damage to property, according to Nyagwanga.
Nyagwanga who was in Kirinyaga County to oversee the progress of the Huduma Number registration faulted the students for going into rampage and destroying public property after their colleague was murdered.
