A book detailing inspiring stories about more than 200 renowned Kenyan women will be launched tomorrow.
The Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board, in partnership with the Ministry of Gender and Youth Services, will launch the book that celebrates the achievements of Kenyan women.
The 450-page publication titled Pioneers & Transformers: The Journeys of Top Achieving Women in Kenya, will be launched at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi.
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta is expected to grace the event, where women who have left a mark in society by breaking barriers in different fields will be feted. This is according to Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board Chief Executive Edward Mwasi.
Speaking to The Standard, Mr Mwasi said the book would be resourceful to learners.
The stories chronicle their journeys to the top.
“This book is a careful selection of women who have not only fearlessly broken barriers and blazed new trails in their chosen fields, but also opened new frontiers for those coming after them,” said Mwasi.
Former MPs Julia Odhiambo, Chelagat Mutai, Phoebe Asiyo and Martha Karua, Grace Onyango, Grace Ogot and Nyiva Mwendwa have been featured. Governor Charity Ngilu and MPs Peris Tobiko and Sophia Noor have also been featured.
