A policeman is being held after shooting his wife dead on Saturday night.
The officer’s 12-year-old son who was in the house during the midnight attack was not injured.
Before he was disarmed, the officer is said to have shot in the air several times sparking fear in area adjacent to Soy police station.
Eldoret West OCPD Zacharia Bitok said the 46-year-old officer, who was on night duty at the time of the incident, went back to his house within the police station and shot Fenny Bosibori, 42, on the head killing her on the spot.
“He was on patrol, but he went back to the house and picked a quarrel with the wife. It was about midnight and there was a power outage in the area,” said Mr Bitok.
According to Bitok, the couple had been embroiled in a protracted domestic feud.
He is being held at Central Police Station in Eldoret where he is being questioned before he is arraigned.
The motive of the killing is not known.
