A section of Kilifi MCAs have welcomed the recommendation to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori from ODM.

They called on the party to finalise their removal to pave way for by-elections. The MCAs led by Kakuyuni MCA Nickson Muramba said the disciplinary action was in line with the party constitution.

Addressing the press flanked by MCAs, Muramba lauded the National Executive Committee (NEC) decision saying the two MPs were now free to campaign for Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

“This is the moment we were waiting for and despite taking time, the decision has now been made and we are going to wait for her (Aisha) to come down and be embarrassed in the by-election,” he said.

Jilore ward MCA Charles Chiriba admitted that the handshake created harmonious relations but it did not allow ODM members to endorse candidates of other parties without blessings of top party organs.

However, Malindi ODM chairman Hosea Chome faulted the decision of NEC insisting that Ms Jumwa was not given time to defend herself.
