A man was seen entering a house with a hen that he is now accused of having an unnatural act with.
A witness yesterday told court she saw John Maina Marite enter a house carrying the hen, and lock the door behind him.
Maina is accused of engaging in a bestial act with the hen on September 11 last year, at Nyuruyu village in Nakuru County.
Testifying before Chief Magistrate Liz Gicheha, Ann Waithera told the court: "I saw the accused enter his house and lock it, after some minutes he opened the door and threw out the hen."
The suspect is the woman's brother-in-law.
She said the accused later took shower and left for the nearby centre, giving her a chance to check on the hen, which had died. “I was shocked to find the hen dead and some part was exposed. I told my mother in-law and called my husband, who was not around,” she added.
The matter was reported to Naishi Police Station and the accused arrested in his house at around 4am. The veterinary officer also testified that there was presence of spermatozoa and rupture, which had caused the death of the hen.
The accused denied the charges.
He faces another charge of being in possession of 50g of cannabis sativa worth Sh250, a count he pleaded guilty to.
The court will rule on the case tomorrow.
