The County Alcoholic Drinks Control Board has proposed the strengthening of County Alcoholic Control Act to give it teeth to crack down on rogue dealers.

Board CEO Mwaki Arimi on Sunday said they wanted more powers to effectively control the sale and consumption of substandard drinks.

In Tharaka Nithi, controversy has broken over the control of alcohol business in Ndagani area neighbouring Chuka University main campus.

University vice chancellor Professor Erastus Njoka recently organised a demonstration to seek closure of bars.
