Police have lobbed teargas at the Kenyatta National Hospital Workers who took to the streets to demonstrate against delayed payments of health service allowances on Monday morning.
Operating under the banner of Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational, Institutions and Hospital Workers (Kudhehia), the workers had given a strike notice and have this morning followed it with actions.
The Union through the Secretary General Albert Njeru issued the notice, giving the government an ultimatum that expired on August 5, 2018 (yesterday). Sources indicate that around 4,700 workers are yet to receive their allowances, after Salaries and Remuneration Commission okayed them.
