Joachim Loew is contemplating his future after Germany were knocked out of the World Cup.
Injury-time goals by Kim Young-won and Tottenham's Son Heung-min sentenced the reigning champions to a humiliating group stage exit for the first time in their history.
And Loew, the 58-year-old who guided Germany to the world crown in Brazil four years ago, admitted he now needs time to decide whether his 12-year reign will continue - despite signing a new four-year contact in May.
Loew, who was given assurances by the German FA that he will not be sacked on the eve of the decisive meeting with South Korea, was asked whether he would resign.
He said: “It is too early for me to answer that question.
“We need a couple of hours to see things clearly. The disappointment is deep inside me. I couldn't imagine that we would lose to South Korea.
“It is hard to say (about the future). I am shocked. We have to talk about things calmly to work out what to do now.
“Since 2006, we have been among the best four teams, but today we have not put in a performance we are normally able to do.
“So we have to admit this is a big defeat. The entire German nation - all of us - have lost. This time we did not succeed. We apologise.
“The disappointment of being eliminated is just huge, but we need to congratulate Mexico and Sweden who have made it out of the group.
“We didn't deserve to win the title again and we didn't deserve to progress to the round of 16.
“We have missed our usual classiness and our dynamism was not there. So we deserved to be eliminated. Yes.”
