Police kill a suspected and wanted thug in an ambush in Kariobangi area

A suspected and wanted thug was Wednesday night killed in a police ambush in Kariobangi area and a gun found on him.

The suspect had a new Glock pistol with two magazines that had 21 bullets at the time of his shooting.

Authorities are yet to confirm the ownership of the weapon.

Police say they had been tracking down the suspect before he was killed in the ambush.

The suspect identified as Jeremiah Chege alias Njoro was wanted in connection with other robberies in the area and had a pending rape, robbery with violence and stealing cases.

He had also been accused of stealing a firearm from a civilian last year in April. It is not clear if the weapon found on him was the one that he stole from the victim in Buruburu.

The body was moved to the mortuary. Buruburu police boss Geoffrey Maiyek said the slain suspect was in the company of three others who managed to escape on foot.

“We are hunting down the other suspects who managed to escape,” he said.
