CS Matiang’i lauds Alliance Girls' performance

There was a celebratory mood at Alliance Girls High School Wednesday afternoon after it emerged third nationally in the KCSE exams.

The school was singled out by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i for its exemplary performance.

The national school, which had 394 candidates, posted a performance index of 68.682677.

Sixteen girls scored grade A, while 119 scored A-, 101 B+, and 64 attained grade B.

42 students scored B-, while 30 obtained C+.

The lowest grade at the school was a D, which was scored by one student.

According to the teachers, the exemplary performance was an acknowledgement of work well done through the combined efforts of teachers, students, parents, and the school's alumni.

“We really put a lot of effort and passion into teaching and we also ensure that we finish the syllabus ahead of time,” said Ms Frida Kaviti, a teacher at the school.

The school’s principal, Rose Menjo, reiterated Ms Kaviti’s statement that the sustained good performance of the school was a result of the passion and dedication of its teachers.

Ms Menjo attributed the academic track record of the school to its rich history and strong culture of excellence.

“Right from when we enrol FormOone students, we begin to nurture and mould them so that by the time they reach Form Four, they are ready and prepared for the exam,” said Menjo.

However, despite clinching the top spot, the school did not produce a single student in the top 10 list nationally. This did not seem to discourage the principal.

“We are happy that all our students have done exceptionally well," she said.
