Kilifi MCAs in push for locals to get most jobs

MCAs have vowed to enact a law that will require at least 70 per cent of jobs are given to locals.

This came after their counterparts in Kiambu County passed a similar motion last week.

The MCAs who spoke in Mtwapa on Tuesday said they will not relent in fighting for residents' rights to employment.

Shimo La Tewa MCA Sammy Ndago, who is also deputy leader of majority, said the assembly will hold a special sitting this week to discuss the proposed law, 'because it is important to the people of Kilifi'.

The MCAs were celebrating Ndago's victory after a court dismissed a petition challenging his election in August.

Ndago, who is the sponsor of the motion, said the house could not debate it because of other programmes.
