Three Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) priests have asked court to stop consecration of the newly-elected bishop of Mombasa Diocese Alphonse Mwaro Baya.

Emmanuel Nzaka, George Kuza and Tom Dawa want ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit ordered to stop the ceremony slated for January 7 next year until a case they have filed challenging Rev Baya's election, on December 9, is determined.

“He wrongfully contacted some members of the search committee who in return gave him higher marks than he deserves,” they claim in their court papers. The case will be heard on December 29.
