Fatal shooting at Bobmil Mattresses owner's Westlands home

A police operation turned tragic Sunday morning when they shot dead son of an Asian businessman where they had raided in Westlands area, Nairobi.

It is not clear what police were searching for at the home of owner of Bobmil mattresses where the shooting happened.

Police who were masked conducted the operation before one of them shot and killed the son of the billionaire. They left the home after the shooting that happened this morning. An investigation has been launched into the incident.

Witnesses said the officers even had armoured car during the operation. The son was shot in the chest and pronounced dead on arrival at the MP Shah Hospital.

Locals said the officers were at the home at about 3 am. When a team from Parklands responded there, they were informed those inside were policemen and on special operation.

“The Parklands team left the scene on learning it was a police operation. We were informed there was a shooting there that we are investigating now,” said an officer aware of the incident.

Gigiri OCPD Vitalis Otieno confirmed the incident but declined to give more details.

“There was a fatal shooting at the home but we will give you more details later,” he said.
