Uasin Gishu Governor was forced to control traffic after police went missing from major roads in his county.

Governor Jackson Mandago was spotted along the Eldoret-Iten road controlling heavy traffic on Saturday night.

An angry Mandago, had to take up the ‘new’ role after his bodyguards were unable to control the snarl-up, especially unruly matatu drivers.

According to research, urban population has increased from less than 30% of the total in 1950 to more than 47% in the year 2000.

It is estimated that more than 57% of world population will be living in cities by the year 2020.

The transport sector in Kenya has weak, ineffective structures and corruption crippling the industry.

Lack of capacity and shortage of resources negatively affects corporate governance, sound policymaking and public management.

There are also serious deficiencies in the current planning approach adopted by different agencies, with very little or no cognisance of stakeholders views.
