Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo has issued a statement on the disappearance of Colonel JM Owuoth.

Ms Omamo said Owuoth was well and went ahead to present him on camera during the presser at Kenya Army Headquarters.

She went on to caution that people should stop issuing alarming statements as they not only disrupt the peace of the country, but also cause anxiety to officers involved and their families.

“These alarmist statements not only threaten the security of the state but cause great anxiety to the officers concerned and their families and expose them to danger. Further, statements of this kind are aimed at distabilising, fracturing and causing division and disaffection within the ranks of the Kenya Defence Forces,” Ms Omamo stated.

The CS urged politicians to avoid involving military in political discourses as it raises unnecessary tension in the country.

Ms Omamo also noted that her docket had investigated documents presented by the National Super Alliance (NASA) on plans to rig the polls and confirmed that they were fake.

“The Ministry has carried out investigations to establish the veracity, authenticity and source of the documents recently submitted by NASA to the press. We can state categorically that these documents are fake in all aspects,” she stressed.

The KDF Spokesman refuted reports of his disappearance, amid claims from family and political leaders that he had gone missing.

Speaking on phone on Tuesday after the reports of his disappearance, Owuoth wondered where the claims had originated.

"Where are all this from? I am on duty," said Owuoth.

Leaders in Kisumu had Tuesday morning raised alarm over the whereabouts of the Kenya Army Spokeman, whom they claimed had not been heard from since Monday morning.
