Debates Media Limited moves presidential debate scheduled for July 10 to July 24 to allow more time to engage on debates format.
The Steering Committee on the Presidential Debates welcomed the decision of the High Court on the Presidential Debates Guidelines for 2017 Elections as a landmark in the history of the Constitution.
The Judge also found that in developing the guidelines Debates Media Limited was not motivated by any discriminatory motives contrary to the charges levelled against it.
Following the Court’s decision, the Steering Committee is engaging various campaign teams to set up briefing sessions on the debates format and other logistical details.
Consequently, the first debate for presidential candidates that was scheduled for Monday the 10th of July has now been moved to Monday the 24th of July, 2017.
The running mates debate, which was slated for the 17th of July, will progress as scheduled.
