Police have launched a manhunt for mentally ill patients who escaped from Mathari Mental Hospital in Nairobi. They were allegedly freed by the striking nurses demanding for the implementation of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
The nurses strike has been going on for over ten days despite Council of Governors(CoG) insisting that the strike is illegal. They urged nurses to return to work before any negotiations with the union resumes.
Police say some of the patients are armed. They have warned the public of possibility of being attacked along Thika Road.
About twenty have so far been taken back to the hospital.
