Former National Chamber of Commerce CEO Kenneth Mutai has joined the race for the Central Imenti parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
Mr Mutai, a nephew of former Cabinet minister Kirugi M’mukindia, vowed to transform the constituency if elected, saying the area had lagged behind in development thanks to unscrupulous leaders.
He promised to set up a fruit processing plant as well as financial institutions if he was elected. “We have no banks, factories, good hospitals or big hotels,” he said.
