Museum honours heroes of prehistory research

The National Museums of Kenya (NMK) honoured African Fossil Hunters recently, in a two-day international event dubbed Celebrating Africa’s Unsung Heroes in Prehistory Research.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mr Joe Okudo,Principal Secretary Arts and Culture Ministry of Sports, Culture and Arts said: “This group of people are rarely recognised beyond the projects they work for.

It is important researchers at NMK saw the need to honour the research assistants.” The heroes that were celebrated included Kamoya Kimeu, Peter Nzube, Wambua Mang’ao, Muteti Nume, Joseph Mutaba and Mary Muungu, of NMK, currently serving as chief collections manager.
