'If Britain leaves Europe a generation of young people will be lost'

EUROPE: Nicky Morgan says: 'It’s clear that if Britain leaves Europe it will be young people who suffer the most'

Quitting the EU risks creating “a lost generation” of Britons, Education Secretary Nicky Morgan will warn today.

Urging parents and grandparents not to “gamble with their children and grandchildren’s future”, she is set to say: “It’s clear that if Britain leaves Europe it will be young people who suffer the most, left in limbo while we struggle to find and then negotiate an alternative model.

“In doing so we risk that lost generation becoming a reality - and everyone who casts their vote must understand that.”

The top Tory will also point to youngsters’ opportunities to study, work and travel freely around the EU.

“This is the generation of Instagram, Easy Jet and eBay,” Mrs Morgan will say in a speech in London.

“They don’t want to see a Britain cut off from the world, where not only their opportunities, but our influence as a country, ends at our shores.”

Young people should press their pals and family to vote Remain on June 23, the minister will add.

“Go out and make the case to others and in particular your older friends and relatives,” she is due to say.

“Make sure they know what the vote means for you.”

Meanwhile, No 10 denied reports David Cameron is failing to acknowledge ministers who are backing Brexit.

A Government source told The Daily Telegraph the Prime Minister would not even make eye contact with Eurosceptic ministers and ignored them when they pass in corridors.

Mr Cameron is holding a secret Cabinet meetings exclusively for pro-EU ministers, The Times reported.
