Suspected serial killer slaughters wife in Nyamira

A man suspected to be a serial killer is being held at Nyamira Police Station after dismembered body parts of a body of a woman believed to be his wife was retrieved from a local river.
Residents of Bonyaiguba village in Nyamira County were left reeling in shock after the body parts were retrieved from a local stream.
Whereabouts of the couple's four-year-old girl is not known with the residents allaying fears that she may also have been killed and her body dumped somewhere.
According to Nyamira County Police Commander Mwarungu Mwandoe, the first discovery of the body parts was made on Saturday by children who were out on a swimming spree at Charachani River when they stumbled upon a human foot severed at the ankle.
"Police were alerted about the discovery and upon moving to the scene, the intestines, liver, and parts of the sternum were retrieved from water and henceforth, more parts have been found in different parts of the stream," said Mr Mwarungu.
John Onderi, a resident said the woman identified as Beatrice Masuka, aged around 40, went missing on Thursday and the discovery was made on Saturday.
There was tension in the village earlier yesterday after angry relatives of the murdered woman invaded the home of the alleged killer husband and torched five houses belonging to his family members.
The suspect, Samuel Nyakwara, 38, who was still in his house managed to escape by running for his safety at Miruka AP Line where he was rescued before being taken to police custody.
Two houses were burnt as the angry relatives of the woman stormed and flushed out owners before setting the structures ablaze.
Several gunshots were fired in the air and teargas canisters lobbed to quell the situation after war broke out between members of the slain woman's clan and those of the suspected killer following torching of the houses, worsening the fight which led to two people suffering serious injuries.
A police vehicle was also partly destroyed as irate villagers pelted the law enforcers with stones when they were driving into the village to silence the escalating chaos.
According to residents, the suspect had served for about three years in rehabilitation after he killed his two daughters by poisoning them.
Rescuers took the entire day to look for the slices of the body with Mr Mwandoe urging the residents to volunteer any information that couldis help them unearth the mystery of the missing child.
When asked if they had records of the suspect's previous acts, police, through Mr Mwandoe said it was yet to be confirmed.
"For now we are treating him as a first offender until his records are reviewed and ascertained that indeed he has been involved in crime previously," said Mwandoe.
