TNA summons four Nakuru MCAs over brawl in assembly

The National Alliance party has issued disciplinary notices to four members of the Nakuru County Assembly over a nasty physical fight that took place in the chamber in March this year.

The politicians received the summons from the party disciplinary committee on Monday evening and were scheduled to face the team Wednesday.

According to one of the notices seen by The Standard Wednesday, Peter Mwangi (Bahati), Paul Thuo (Kabatini), Humphrey Mwaniki (Nakuru East) and Simon Wanyoike (Lake View) were required to appear before the committee to show cause why they should not be disciplined.

According to sources at the party headquarters, the four were identified taking part in the brawl in a video taken in the assembly on the afternoon of March 10.

The cause of the fracas was said to be the presence of an unidentified person masquerading as a journalist in the assembly.

The assembly was meant to discuss the amendment of standing orders to impeach the deputy speaker.

Wednesday, The Standard learnt that the decision to summon the MCAs was informed by reports that the party had targeted innocent assembly members for disciplinary action over the incident.
