Embu, Kenya - Governor Martin Wambora's administration has reiterated that the county's development agenda, as outlined in its manifesto, is firmly on course despite heightened political bickering in the last few days.

The governor's Political Advisor Joshua Kanake and Personal Assistant Bosco Kiura told leaders to stop criticising Wambora's government and give it time to implement development projects.

The two were speaking at a press conference in an apparent reaction to Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi's recent endorsement of Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire to vie for the Embu gubernatorial seat.

Mr Kanake asked those eying the seat to first show the electorate what they have done for it while in their respective positions before gunning for bigger ones.

"If Kiraitu wants to play an oversight role in Embu County, then he should vie for an MCA position here. If he comes to Embu in good faith then we will support him for the ward rep position," he said.

NO SIDESHOWS

The advisor said the purported lack of peaceful co-existence between Embu and Mbeere communities is a creation of Wambora's opponents.

"The people of Embu are tired of these political sideshows and would appreciate if all leaders concentrated on development matters," he said.

At the same time, a group of women from the county have asked for review of a court case where a 100-year-old woman was jailed for contempt.

Led by Susan Njamiu, the women want the Attorney General to give Margaret Ngima special consideration..

"This is an elderly woman, who is also ailing. She also seems ignorant of what happened and is unable to hire a good a lawyer," she said.
