Closed-circuit television footage detailing the final movements of Mercy Keino’s life has been sent back to the Cyber crime Headquarters for review.
Principal Magistrate Peter Ndwiga ordered the footage reviewed and further directed the police to single out critical points of the footage in a separate DVD.
“As the footage is reviewed, make extracts of the chaotic moments at the gate, terrace and bar,” Ndiga said.
The footage was presented to the court by Inspector Edward Kiptum of the CID Scenes of Crime department.
He was, however, stood down from the dock after a discrepancy between his certificate of authentication and the actual footage was realised. The footage that was aired in court was to have covered between 7.30pm to 3.30am on the fateful night.
Inspector Kiptum said the only footage available was from two cameras that were located at the Wasini Apartments’ gate.
The footage aired showed vehicles and people going in and out of the apartments compound with six girls who were dropped off at the apartments being among them.
On further probing, it emerged that there were other clips that had not been aired that he seemed not to be aware of.
In one of the footages that were not included in the Inspector’s certificate of authentication showed a lady suspected to be the late Keino being handled roughly by two men.
Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Moses O’Mirera applied to have the footages reviewed due to the sensitivity of the matter. Kenio was found dead on Waiyaki Way.
