Kimaiyo: Several Mpeketoni attack suspects arrested

Mpeketoni, Lamu: Inspector General of police David Kimaiyo has announced that they have in custody a suspect Ishmael Omondi who was operating a fake social account purporting to be Al Shabaab so as to claim responsibility for the Mpeketoni attack.

David Kimaiyo also stated that Mpeketoni OCS Aden Ali has been dismissed with immediate effect and will be charged in court. In the meantime more suspects including leaders are being interrogated.

The inspector General also clarified that the police has arrested several suspects in connection with the deadly Mpeketoni attack. Among the suspects arrested is the owner and driver of one of the vehicles that is alleged to have been used by the attackers.

This is the second worst terror-related attacks since September when 67 people were killed in the attack on Nairobi's Westgate shopping mall.
