Nyandarua; KENYA: Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka Mwangi has disputed allegations by a section of leaders from Kipipiri constituency that there was bias in allocation of county positions.
Mwangi said individuals appointed as members of the public service board and the county executive were from all the five constituencies.
“That is untrue. In fact, Kipipiri has five appointees, which is more than any other region in the county,” noted the governor.
The governor reiterated that the recruitment was carried out in a transparent and fair manner.
He said the positions were shared among people from Ol-Kalau, Kipipiri, Oljoro-Orok, Kinangop and Ndaragwa to avoid conflict.
“Individuals who were interested in county government positions applied for interviews and the process was conducted transparently,” said Mwangi.
He said Kipipiri was given the lion’s share of five, Ol-Kalau (two), Ndaragwa (three), Kinangop (three) and Oljoro-Orok (two). There were 10 positions available for county government executive members, with nine positions having been filled, while the public service board had a total of seven positions, out of which six have already been occupied.
“The county now has just two positions to fill - one executive member and another to sit on the public service board - to enable us implement intended projects on time,” said Mwangi.
Those appointed
Appointees from Kipipiri include Peter Kung’u (Health Services), Eliud Miring’uh (Director, Governor Press Service), County Service Board Members Jane Njeri Maina, Boniface Munyinyi Mukuria and Jackson Mbute Mbugua (County Service Board Secretary).
Ndaragwa constituency is represented by Peter Macharia (Education, Youth and Children Affairs), Grace Gitonga (Water, Energy, Environment and Natural Resources) and Godrey Ndiani (Lands, Housing and Physical Planning) while Kinangop is represented by Nelson Njoroge (Finance), George Kimani (Legal and Public Service) and Eddah Wangaru (County Service Board Member).
Agatha Thuo (Livestock) and Kelvin James Gathigia (Service Board Member) represent Ol Joro-Orok Constituency. Ol’Kalau is represented by Judy Muhia (Industrialisation and Cooperative Development) and Dr Eliud Mwaura (Board Chairman).
