Uhuru, Kabila talk focuses on cooperation

President Uhuru Kenyatta this morning in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo met and held talks with his DRC counterpart President Joseph Kabila.

The talks between the two leaders focused on matters of mutual interest both at the bilateral and regional level.
During the meeting, the two leaders also followed up on issues that were discussed during President Kabila’s brief visit to Kenya shortly after the inauguration of President Kenyatta.

The two leaders underlined the need to fast-track diplomatic engagement as well as agreements necessary to enhance cooperation and facilitate trade and investment between the two countries.

Towards this end, the two leaders directed their respective ministers of Foreign Affairs to commence consultations.
The two leaders noted that the exchange of mutual visits will further cement relations between the two countries.

In this regard, President Kenyatta invited President Kabila to make an official visit to Kenya.

Consequently, the two leaders directed their Foreign Affairs ministers to work out modalities for the visit.
The President is accompanied by Cabinet Secretaries Amb. Amina Mohammed of Foreign Affairs and James Macharia of Health among other senior Government officials.
