At least four people are feared dead after a fire razed down over 2000 structures in Kibera slum. The fire which began at around 7:30am burnt down shanties in Kibera’s Laini Saba area.

There were conflicting reports on the cause of the fire. One victim, Chris Okonda, said it started after a man and wife quarrelled in the house while others claimed it was caused by an electric fault.

Fire fighters from the G4S and the locals managed to put out the fire. Residents said they did not salvage their properties and may spend the night in the cold.
