A Form Four student at Kereri Girls in Kisii County is hospitalized after her classmate splashed a chemical to both of her eyes.

The student Rebecca Otieno, 17, said that her classmate splashed the solution after a confrontation during a practical lesson at the school.

“We have never had issues before and I don’t know why she decided to do this to me,” she said at the Kisii Level Five Hospital where she was rushed to after the attack on Friday.

Her mother Isabella Bosibori could not bear the pain of seeing her daughter lying in the hospital just a few days to her exams.

“Have struggled to educate my children and I pray that God heals my daughter,” she said.

The attacker was arrested and is being held at the Kisii Police Station as investigations into the incident progress.

The suspect however denied that they had the confrontation and it was not her intention to splash the solution to her classmate.

The principal Esther Ongondi said that the matter was being handled by the police and they could be able to give a conclusive statement after assessing the situation.

Rebecca is said to be among the best students in the form four class and the teachers expected her to score an A.

Police said that they are treating the case with care since both the two girls are to sit for their final exam starting next week.
