A student was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Nyeri County.

Ms Valentine Nyakio, a 19-year-old first year student at Kimathi University in Nyeri was found dead by the boy’s mother, Rosemary Njoki. Her boyfriend, Samuel Kabue, who is at large, is said to have stabbed her several times with two kitchen knives at his parents home in Skuta estate.

“He stabbed her first with a knife which broke, then used another knife and a fork,” said Nyeri OCPD Kirunya Limbitu.

Shocked neighbours and relatives gathered at the house on Tuesday as police launched a manhunt for the 25-year-old.

Mr Limbitu said the girl could have been raped.

Kabue’s mother said she last saw her son at about 7am when he left their family business in Nyeri town to allegedly go for prayers at a local Catholic church.

“By 8am, he had not returned to the shop and when I called him he said he was on his way. The phone later went dead,” said Njoki.

Separately, five men were lynched in Juja on suspicion of being robbers.

The lynching happened at Gachororo village. It was alleged that the five were part of a larger gang that had been terrorising residents.

Despite the allegations, Ruiru OCPD David Kirui said no formal complaint had been made to police. “We received information, rushed to the scene only to find the suspects had been set on fire,” he said.
