Six former MPs are among 205 Kenyans who have applied to join the proposed Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).
Others include former Central Bank of Kenya Governor Micah Cheserem and lawyer and governance advocate Mwalimu Mati.
Applications received by the Clerk of the National Assembly show that a great deal of former technocrats in the Treasury and Ministry of Finance wish to return to public service.
The list includes former Butula MP Francis Masakhalia who was a Finance Minister in the Moi Government. He holds a PhD in Development Economics, according to his application.
Others are immediate former Mandera Central MP Billow Aden Kerrow — a shadow Finance Minister, in the Ninth Parliament —, and former Nyakach MPs Ojwang’ K’Ombudo and Peter Odoyo.
The list will be passed on to political parties, which will nominate 11 members to the commission based on their proportionate strength in the august House.
The CRA is a crucial commission that will dish out billions of shillings from the national budget to the 47 counties.
According to the new Constitution the nine-member commission should be established by November 27.
