President awards journalists

Standard Group’s Farida Karoney and media personality Catherine Kasavuli received Order of Grand Warrior of Kenya during Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Leaders who received the highest wards and honours include House Speaker Kenneth Marende, Cabinet Ministers Mutula Kilonzo, James Orengo, Fred Gumo, Helen Sambili, Samuel Poghisio, Beth Mugo and Otieno Kajwang.

Those under the Third Class category awarded the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart were Chief Whips George Thuo and Jakoyo Midiwo and Assistant Ministers Joshua Ojode, Joel Onyancha, Cecily Mbarire and Wilfred Machage. Also awarded was head of the Presidential Escort Benson Githinji and Nyanza PC Paul Olando.

Senior civil servants, whose services the President appreciated, included Internal Security PS Francis Kimemia. University dons were also awarded among them Mabel Imbuga, Kepha Otiso, Dankit Katai Nassiuma and Agnes Mwangombe.

A senior Army officer who led military operation in Mt Elgon was also awarded Presidential honours.

Col Stephen Boiywo was among officers awarded with a third class of the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear.
