An IDP accused of stealing goods worth Sh5,740 told a Nyeri court he was driven by hunger.

Mr Charles Gitonga Mugo was jailed for one year for housebreaking and stealing.

Mugo told Senior Principal Magistrate Joel Ng’eno that he had no option other than steal.

He said he was displaced from Molo during post-election violence.

He was charged that on October 13 at Chaka Trading Centre in Nyeri North District, he broke into Mr Peter Waweru King’ori’s house where he stole a camera, a mobile phone and an external speaker.
