A man was stripped naked on Monday at a pub in Kiminini township in Trans Nzoia county for failing to clear a Sh1,500 bill.

The unidentified man was in the company of his two friends when he ordered two bottles of Kibao (750ml) but refused to pay.

After the man refused to clear the bill, it is alleged that a waitress grabbed one of his friend's mobile phone.

Efforts by the phone's owner to get it back failed as the waitress insisted on being paid first.

"Give me back my phone. I'm not the one who ordered the drinks. My friend should pay," the man shouted as the waitress held her ground.

At one time, the man threatened to beat her up but other customers intervened.

"No kind of threats will make me surrender the phone. I will give it back when your friend pays the bill," she said.

It was after this that the man grabbed his friend and stripped him naked, accusing him of embarrassing them.

"You have embarrassed us. How can you order alcohol for us and then refuse to pay?" said the man.

The man who was half-naked by now was ordered to leave the bar with no clothes leaving the other customers shocked.

The Monday 6.00 pm incident attracted a crowd who struggled to get a glimpse of the situation as the half-naked man was pushed out of the bar but resisted for a while before he was overpowered.

The man later contacted his brother who cleared the bill through mobile money transfer.
