Learning at Kolanya Boys High is going on normally despite 52 sudents testing positive for Covid-19. The students were part of the 60 whose results came positive from 100 samples taken by medics in the county.
County Director of Education Thadius Awuor told The Saturday Standard that no more tests have been carried out since then.
The testing of students, teachers and support staff was done following concern from one of the teachers.
“Students are at school and learning is going on,” said Awuor.
He continued; “The entire school has been put under quarantine from the day the positive cases were detected.”

He urged teachers to ensure laid down health protocols to keep the infectious coronavirus at bay are adhered to so that schools do not become spreading centres for the disease.
Awuor said no other school had been reported to have students with Covid-19.
“Let parents whose children are day-scholars not to intract freely with people especially in the border towns of Busia and Malaba,” said Awuor.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA) has donated much-needed equipment to help in the fight against the virus.
Busia being a border town and neighbour to Uganda, was identified as one of the counties at risk of having many cases of Covid-19.
The disease has claimed the life of Busia County’s Director of Revenue Charles Andima. Andima died on Tuesday at the Oasis Hospital in Kisii after a short illness. The family disclosed that Andima succumbed to coronavirus.
