Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has denied campaigning against Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula.

Wamalwa, who was accompanied by governors Wycliffe Oparanya, Patrick Khaemba and Wycliffe Wangamati was speaking during a meeting with teachers and other education stakeholders in Kitale.

The leaders dismissed claims that they had launched a political campaign against Mudavadi and Wetang'ula in Western Kenya.

Instead, they said their engagements with the government in the last month had brought goodies to Western region, citing the planned revival of the sugar sector.

Eugene and Oparanya said they were not interested in political supremacy, but in pursuing an economic agenda to liberate people in Western region from poverty.

The leaders said nobody would stop them from negotiating with the national government for the benefit of the people in the region.

"For the one and a half months we have engaged the national government we have seen fruits. The national government has committed to revive the sugar sector. A groundnut factory will be constructed in Vihiga County while the stalled cotton factory in Busia will be operationalised," said Oparanya.
