Kenya: Bishop Joseph Obanyi has been appointed the new Kakamega Catholic Diocese bishop after the retirement of Bishop Philip Sulumeti.
Bishop Obanyi had been serving as the vicar general at the Kisii Diocese before his new appointment.
Speaking to the press at Bishop Nicholas Stam Pastoral and Animation Centre shortly after being unveiled by the Roman Catholic Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya Charles Daniel Balvo, Obanyi said his first mission will be to unite Christians and strength the church.
“We should work together to build a strong church. We should ensure that we live in harmony, peace, love and unity so that we can achieve our mission of leading our people,” he said.
