The stage is set for the third edition of the annual Parklands Sports Club half marathon with 346 runners, led by defending champion Albert Kongor, having shown interest in this year’s event set for July 10.
The marathon will begin at Parklands Sports Club, Nairobi, through Tarifa Road, Ojijo Road, Chiromo Lane, Mujijo Road, The Mall (Westlands), Sarit Centre and back to the starting point.
Apart from the half-marathon, there will be the 5km fun run, media and the children’s races.
The race’s main aim is to improve healthy living and this year’s theme is ‘Running for Healthy Kidney’.

"Money raised from the race will be channelled towards Haki Foundation and Kenya Kidney Lupus Foundation that are helping patients with kidney problems," said Gabriel Kuria, Marketing Manager, Kenya Orient.
Daniel Gatama, the marathon convener, said there will be health experts to help with any emergencies on the race day.
The race, that is sanctioned by Athletics Kenya, Westlands branch, is sponsored by The Kenya Orient Insurance Limited to a tune of Sh1.7 million. Other sponsors include Family Bank that has donated Sh250, 000.
The marathon winners in both men and women’s categories will get Sh50,000 each and an insurance package from the Kenya Orient.
Second and third-placed runners in the marathon will get Sh30,000 and Sh10,000 respectively.
