Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman on Thursday urged Kenyans to avoid
processed foods and focus on eating a balanced diet daily to boost immunity.
Speaking during the daily COVID-19 update, Dr Aman said most
processed foods have high amounts of unhealthy fats that may leave one
vulnerable to viruses and other ailments.
“I urge all of us to adopt healthy lifestyles by reducing
consumption of highly refined processed foods, sweets, sugar-sweetened and
flavored drinks or beverages which all have high amounts of unhealthy fats,
sugar and salt,” he said.
Dr Aman said the famous combination of Ugali and Sukumawiki is good but additions such as
omena and a fruit would go a long way
in ensuring one has had a balanced diet.
Elsewhere, Transport CS James Macharia spoke on the
resumption of International flights saying a number of measures had been put in
place to ensure the safety of passengers.
