We are living in hard unprecedented times. If you told me last December that we would be greeting each other without shaking hands, I would have called you a liar.

But other than the pleasantries that come with shaking hands, I feel that what is most troubling is how industries have had to close while most businesses have closed shop.

As they did so, many people have been rendered jobless, and it is high time they looked for other sources of income to pay bills and feed their families.

Well, in this post, I talk of legit ways to make money online.

1. Freelance Work

Maybe you have heard the term freelance writing, but because you were busy doing other things, you never gave it much thought. Well, you might now need to learn more about it since it could be a good source of income for you during these coronavirus moments.

You can sign up on freelancing sites such as Upwork and bid for jobs related to your skillset if you have writing, coding, or graphic design skills. Clients are looking for your skills there and you could easily make some good money if you do excellent work.

For a beginner who has no reviews for work done to past clients, things might not be too easy for you. But you could always overturn the odds to favor you. The trick is easy; give low bid amounts with a stellar proposal letter that details what you will do once given the job.

If you are lucky to get the job, do it impeccably so that the client feels compelled to give you more work or leaves a good rating that will lure future clients to hire you

2. Earning through affiliate marketing

Since 2018, I have been making money blogging through affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is easy since all you need to do is sign up with a program that pays you a percentage commission once you sell their products.

Some of the most popular affiliate marketing programs include Amazon, Shareasale, Walmart, and eBay. Locally, we have Jumia and Kilimall.

After signing up with the programs and reviewing the products that you want people to buy, you will need to work on driving traffic to the blog. You can use social media marketing, paid ads, or optimize your blog for search engines.

3. Earning through ads placed on your blog

You have probably seen ads placed on blogs or YouTube videos, haven’t you? Well, the content creators who own those blogs and YouTube channels are making some money from the impressions on those ads.

Some of the popular ad networks that you could sign up with to post ads on your blogs include Google AdSense, ezoic, mediavine, and adthrive. Each has its own set of requirements that you need to meet before they approve you.
