COVID-19: Margaret Wanjiru speaks out after being discharged from hospital

The founder of the Jesus Is Alive Ministries Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has been discharged from the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.

Speaking at the Aga Khan University hospital on Saturday, May 30, the former Starehe MP revealed that she went to the hospital after suspecting she had food poisoning.

She says the doctors treated her for malaria, bacterial infection and amoeba on the first day, but on the second day, they tested for COVID-19 only to find she was positive.

“I had food poison on a Sunday. When I went to the hospital, I did not go for COVID-19 I did not sneeze, I went to the hospital because my stomach was aching. I thought it was food poisoning.

“The first day, I was treated of malaria, amoeba and bacterial infection. The second day, we started reasoning with the doctor and checked in for a test only to test positive for COVID-19,” said the Bishop.

The former legislator further stated that her two grandchildren and six workers were all in quarantine.

She adds that her grandchildren were in the same hospital where she was admitted, but they never met.

Addressing on rumors that she had hosted people at her home before testing positive, Bishop Wanjiru denied the allegations.

 "The disease found me at home. I had no visitors, I had no intercessors. Out of my family members and staff, we ended up being. My two grandchildren and six of my staff are also in quarantine,” clarified Bishop Wanjiru.

On Saturday, May 30, Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman announced that 147 more people tested positive for COVID-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,888.

CAS Aman also said one more Kenyan succumbed to the disease bringing total deaths to 63.
