National carrier Kenya Airways on Friday stated that it had
plans to fly Kenyans who are stranded in China this weekend.
This is after a KQ flight from Mumbai landed on Thursday
evening at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The airline maintained that it had instituted required
measures to protect the passengers and crew through;
- Strict adherence to the point of entry protocols upon arrival
to the destinations
- Providing appropriate PPEs to support passenger handling
- Sanitizing aircrafts
- Testing of passengers
“It was our privilege to partner with the government to bring Kenyans back home. Hon Ababu Namwamba (CAS Min of Foreign Affairs) & Amb Michael Oyugi (Min Foreign Affairs) were at JKIA to welcome our guests.

“We look forward to flying Kenyans home from China this
weekend,” stated Kenya Airways.
CEO Allan Kilavuka echoed this statement saying there are
Kenyans in diaspora who want to come home and they have no alternative means.
“We are aware that many Kenyans had travelled to India for
medical reasons and were stranded due to the restrictions on travel that were
imposed by different governments.
“We are making these flights for them to reunite them with
their loved ones and bring them home safe,” said Kilavuka.
Adding: “It is important that our passengers feel safe and
are comfortable when taking these flights with us and we have taken the
necessary steps to guarantee this. The required Ministry of Health protocols
take effect upon arrival at JKIA.
