Kenyan Film
Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua on Monday, April 28, revealed
that he would award both Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and singer Esther Akoth
alias Akothee for inspiring content amid COVID-19 in the country.
Through his
social media handle, the KFCB Boss named Senator Sakaja and his sons for the
''most creative piece of art''.
On March
28, Senator Johnson Sakaja and his two sons excited a lot of Kenyans on Twitter
after posting their coronavirus rap song.
The Senator encouraged Kenyans to stay safe and comply with the government directives in a bid to avoid further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
"Nairobi
Senator Johnson Sakaja & sons are the winners of the most creative piece of
art in raising awareness on COVID-19," said Ezekiel.
When it
came to Akothee, Mr Mutua said she was the most improved artiste in Kenya,
adding that she put out very inspiring content for Kenyans.
"Esther Akoth alias Akothee takes the trophy for the most improved artist in Kenya. Her online messages and content of late are very inspiring. 50k for both!" Stated the KFCB boss.
Akothee
took to her Instagram handle and thanked the KFCB CEO for his kind gesture and
appreciating her talent adding that she needed the money.
"I
really appreciate Daktari. First and foremost, thank you very much for
acknowledging my Talent this means a lot to me. Secondly, thank you very much
for the Sh50,000. I really needed it at this particular time," said
Akothee.
The singer
also revealed that she would use the money to help out the ladies working at
night clubs so that they can feed their children as most of them currently
don't have jobs.
"I
will send it straight to those ladies who worked in night clubs and can't get
anything to feed their children, most of them emailed me at their point of dead
Ends. GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY," concluded Akothee.
